For 30 years, Shukriya is a midwife who has been helping women in the city of Al_Mayadin and its villages in eastern Syria to have a safe delivery and reduce the risks to the lives of mothers and fetuses. On the occasion of International Day of Midwives, UNFPA would like to thank all midwives for their efforts in helping women give birth safely.

منذ 30 سنة لم تتوقف القابلة شكرية عن مساعدة النساء في مدينة الميادين و قراها شرقي سوريا على الولادة الآمنة و تقليل المخاطر على حياة الأمهات و الأجنة من خلال وضع معرفتها العلمية وخبرتها العملية في مجال القبالة في خدمة مجتمعها. بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للقابلات نتوجه بالشكر إلى كل القابلات على جهودهم في مساعدة النساء على الولادة الآمنة.

1st humanitarian assistance arrives in Al Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo As part of UNFPA response to the devastating earthquake that struck Syria, and in partnership with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the 1st humanitarian assistance has reached to Al Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in northern Aleppo where there are around 50,000 inhabitants, more than half of them are women, and directly affected by the disaster.
