Some 130,000 women in Syria are currently pregnant; and an estimated 13,800 births are expected in the coming weeks.
Urgent needs of women and their families include shelter, food, healthcare, protection services and psychosocial support, essential items, blankets and winter clothes and cash.
Around 44,000 women in Syria are expected to deliver in the next 3 months. The earthquake that struck both Syria and Turkey increased the suffering of the Syrian people, who had been exhausted by 12 years of war.
1st humanitarian assistance arrives in Al Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo As part of UNFPA response to the devastating earthquake that struck Syria, and in partnership with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the 1st humanitarian assistance has reached to Al Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in northern Aleppo where there are around 50,000 inhabitants, more than half of them are women, and directly affected by the disaster.
