“Despite the cold weather, we have set up a tent in front of our home to sleep in it at night because our homes were damaged a lot in the earthquake,” said Salwa, who lives with her husband and 4 children in Ma’arat Al Nouman in Idleb Governorate, northwestern Syria.
During the 12 years of the war, most of the buildings and houses in Maarat Al Numan were heavily damaged, and they are in danger of collapse if a strong earthquake occurs.
UNFPA and its local implementing partner SFPA provide women and girls in rural Idleb reproductive health consultations, pregnancy checkups, psychological first aid, psycho-social support, Gender-Based Violence interventions, and the distribution of hygiene kits through two medical mobiles teams.
