So, for me, attending the women and girls’ safe space not only helps me to learn a career, but also helps me to recover from the fears in my heart after the #earthquake,” said Najiba, 40 years old, a housewife and has 5 children.
Najiba's family leaves their home whenever aftershocks occur in order to avoid any civilian casualties.
“Staying alone at home in these horrific living conditions increases anxieties and can feed into depression,” she added.
Women and girls go to the UNFPA -supported women and girls’ safe spaces in Aleppo every day to take part in activities like vocational training, awareness sessions and learning classes.
