The position is located in Country Offices (CO) or one of the field offices in Aleppo, Homs, Qamishli, or Deir Ezzor (depending on the selection of are of project coverage after inception phase).  Under overall responsibility of UNFPA Syria Representative reports to UNFPA Deputy Representative., and closely works with all heads of units and field offices to ensure effective integration of resilience component of the “UN Joint Programme to Build Urban and Rural Resilience and the Conditions for Recovery in Syria” project to UNFPA Syria program. You will closely cooperate with other UN Agencies involved in the implementation of the Joint Programme. 

You will report directly to UNFPA Deputy Representative.

Job Purpose:

You will substantively oversee the effective management, implementation, and monitoring of UNFPA project “UN Joint Programme to Build Urban and Rural Resilience and the Conditions for Recovery in Syria”, funded by the EU, in line with agreed goals and indicators

You will ensure the effective coordination and communication with the Administrative Agent (MPTFO), other (five) UN agencies participating to joint program, Implementing Partners (IPs), Local authorities, and Program Management Unit (PMU), located in the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO).

You will participate and represent UNFPA in the Joint UN technical working group, you will also provide substantive inputs to UNFPA Rep/Deputy Rep for the later to participate to the Project Steering Committee. You will guide and facilitate the delivery of UNFPA’s project monitoring results achieved during implementation. You will ensure and guide the appropriate application of systems and procedures and develops enhancements if necessary.

The main UNFPA activities under this program are in the areas of population and development, establishing community safe spaces for the provision of basic health services (including Reproductive Health), GBV management and counseling services, providing life skills trainings, support, awareness raising and other activities supporting social cohesion and reconciliation building for adolescents and youth. 

Advanced degree in public health, medicine, sociology, demography, gender, economics, international relations, international development, public administration, management or other related field with Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in resilience developmental program/project management.
Or Bachelor’s Degree with seven years of increasingly responsible professional experience in resilience developmental program/project management.

Field experience

EU program implementation experience is a strong asset.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.
